Waste Bin by Grace Youngeun Lee
By stepping on the pedal, the bin opens towards you- yet the cover remains stationary. This natural motion is emphasized through a graphic division of color and material.
Bench #07 by Bob Turek
The proportions and subtle design detailing of this bench work together to keep the user focused and engaged by stimulating an upright posture.
Stool #02 by Bob Turek
Using the language of a standard bar stool, this tall version creates a minimal stage for musicians or performers.
Triad by Talha B. Khwaja
A reduced cube is turned on its corner to function as a three-legged cabinet, allowing multiple modes of use.
Table Top Objects by Patrick Gavin
"Table Top Objects" are pieces of furniture for the table top and can be arranged in a manner similar to how a person composes the interior of a room. This scalar shift suggests a new behavioral model for both living and working conditions, where flexible areas of activity are implied through simple spatial boundaries.
Coatrack by Isaac Yu Chen
In the same manner that we lean a broomstick against the wall, this design investigates the gesture of pivoting the stick in order to access the hanging clothing.
Magazine Hanger by Isaac Yu Chen
This design reduces the act of displaying magazines to the object itself and string. In a gesture similar to inserting a bookmark, magazines are hung on their own weight, creating a graphic display.
Newspaper Table by Isaac Yu Chen
This design looks at the coffee table and interactions that take place around it. By creating a dimple in the surface and using a weighted rod, the act of reading the newspaper and also using it as a table cloth are framed together, creating a dialogue between the user and object.
Sottoman by Courtney Clarke
A piece of furniture at a given height can serve different functions based on the treatment of the horizontal surface. The top of Sottoman provides users with a soft side suitable for sitting and a hard side to be used as a table.
Good Wood by Glenn Jufer
A lamp machined from a single piece of walnut. Subtle design clues indicate a variety of useful positions.
Symmetrican by Saebyul Lim
The symmetric apertures on this watering can allow it to be approached from either side. The handle doubles as a sort of funnel, directing the water into the container naturally.
Shift Light by Hsin Chun Wang
Moving the tubular cover turns the lamp on when lowered and off when closed. A hidden joint is revealed when completely lowered, allowing it to be used horizontally.
